CCAA recommends WRAP certification for all factories
Caribbean-Central American Action (CCAA), a private, independent organization that promotes private sector-led economic development in the Caribbean Basin and throughout the hemisphere, was host to the 30th annual Miami Conference on the Caribbean Basin, held on December 4 - 6, 2006. One of the sessions held at the Conference was entitled, "Apparel and Assembly: Reinventing the Region to be Innovative and Faster." The session turned on the question that, while proximity to the US market provides the region with a competitive edge, do factories in the region understand the sourcing and certification requirements to take advantage of agreements like CAFTA and other trade legislation? The discussion identified key issues for factory owners to focus on as being speed to market, cost and excellence of service, and made the recommendation that "All Factories must be certified by the Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production (WRAP)."
