As the social compliance sector continues to grow, so does employment within the industry. Last month, U.S. News and World Report named the role of compliance officer one of the best jobs of 2012.
The article, written by Phillip Moeller on February 27, 2012, detailed the outlook, salary range, education and preparation for the position. It also detailed how to land employment as a compliance officer and what to expect once you’re on the job.
“Compliance officers are responsible for making sure business and environmental regulations are followed. There is a strong ethical component to their professional duties. They work in a broad range of industries and agencies at all levels of government,” wrote Moeller.
In the United States, the median wage for a compliance officer is U.S. $58,720. The job was described as being “demanding but very fulfilling.”
The compliance industry in the United States will continue to grow—with a projected 15 percent increase (approximately 32,400 new jobs) from 2010 to 2020.
