WRAP Social Systems Training Course New York City, May 13-15, 2008.
WRAP is pleased to offer a three-day Social Systems Foundation and Internal Auditor Training course. The aim of this course is to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to perform internal audits of social systems, plus show how suppliers can continually assess their factories to maintain compliance with local laws and customer codes.
This highly interactive course meets the training requirements of the International Register of Certificated Auditor's (IRCA) internal auditor training program (see: http://www.irca.org/certification/certification_10_2.html
Extract from the WRAP factory handbook:
Monitoring: Does the facility routinely verify the effectiveness of the Practice? Are deviations from the Practice identified, analyzed, and investigated? Does the facility correct non-compliance in a timely manner?
Extract from SA8000:
Planning and Implementation 9.5d continuous monitoring of activities and results to demonstrate the effectiveness of systems implemented to meet the company's policy and the requirements of this standard.
The above are just two examples showing how factories need to take charge of their own social management systems and not rely on visits from second and third party monitoring companies to assess their compliance to codes, laws and regulations.
Aim of this course:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- describe the fundamental purpose of a management system and explain the purpose, content and interrelationship of WRAP principles, local industry practice, the relevant legislative framework;
- describe the responsibilities of an internal auditor and describe the role of internal audit in the maintenance and improvement of social systems, in accordance with ISO 1901;
- conduct and report an internal audit of a social system in part of an organization in accordance with ISO 19011 and by interpreting the requirements of WRAP principles.
