BNSF Railway headquartered in Ft. Worth, Texas is one of the four remaining transcontinental railroads and one of the largest railroad networks in North American. With globalization, the transcontinental railroads are a key component in the containerization of the Pacific Rim with the BNSF Railway moving more intermodal traffic than any other rail system in the world

BNSF Tours

BNSF’s corporate headquarters houses one of the world’s most extensive Pacific Northwest and Native American art collections of any major US corporation. In addition to viewing these impressive works of art, participants will tour the BNSF Network Operations Center. The Network Operations Center (NOC) is the largest and most technologically advanced control center of its kind in the industry. In the NOC, dispatchers, locomotive distributors, and other decision-makers coordinate the movement of rail shipments throughout the BNSF’s rail network which covers 28 states in the western two-thirds of the US plus two Canadian provinces over 32,000 route miles.

The Alliance intermodal facility is their 5th largest intermodal hub handling 1800 trucks and 17 trains per day equating to 566,000 lifts in 2007. Participants will see various aspects of intermodal hub operations including the processing of container and trailers at checkpoint & the loading and unloading of trains using overhead gantry cranes.
