WRAP is pleased to announce that Russell Jowell joined the organization as Communications Manager on October 2, 2012. Russell brings a wealth of knowledge to this role through his background in television news. He began his career in Oklahoma working as a Backpack Journalist for the state’s PBS network. In 2010, he moved to Washington, DC where he has worked as a Producer for the international Russia Today TV Network as well as News Channel 8, covering local news in the National Capital Region. Russell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. He is also an Eagle Scout and has received training from the Travel Channel as well as the National Press Photographer’s Association, the U.S. trade group for news photographers. He is looking forward to using his skills to further the mission of WRAP. During his time working in news, Russell says he became much more aware of the importance of knowing how clothes are made. As he said, “Human hands are always involved, either directly or indirectly, in the manufacture of apparel, and knowing that my clothes were made humanely is very important.” “Russell has the right mix of skills to tackle the challenges that will come with his role here at WRAP,” said Avedis Seferian, President and CEO of WRAP. In his spare time, Russell volunteers as a video production instructor for a non-profit group in Arlington, Virginia and also enjoys cooking and travelling. He resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
